Letters to the Editor
Two letters responding to prior JBQ articles: one praising Ethan Dor-Shav's two-part 'Ecclesiastes, Fleeting and Timeless' for recasting Kohelet's message as appreciative rather than despairing, and one from Jacob Chinitz disputing Leo Abrami's reading of positive versus negative commandments, arguing that the Ten Commandments in fact contain fourteen distinct mitzvot.

Condie Erwin praises Ethan Dor-Shav’s two-part article “Ecclesiastes, Fleeting and Timeless” for reframing Kohelet as a message of appreciation rather than despair. Jacob Chinitz responds to Leo Abrami’s discussion of positive and negative commandments, arguing that the Ten Commandments in fact encode fourteen distinct mitzvot once idolatry and Sabbath observance are broken into their component prohibitions and obligations.
